FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza has conceded that his side is out of the running for the league title this season.
The Zvishavane side have won the last four league titles in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, and were searching for a record breaking fifth title.
But with just five matches before the season ends, the platinum miners are nine points behind log leaders Ngezi Platinum Stars.
And the former warriors captain and mentor concedes that their title hopes are almost over.
“As for us, I have to be honest our chances of winning the championship I would put them at maybe 20 percent,” Mapeza said ahead of FC Platinum’s away tie to Chicken Inn at Luveve on Saturday.
“We lost some valuable points along the way, if you look at our past three matches, if we wanted to win the championship we should have collected at least seven points.”
Mapeza added that for now, his primary target is seeing out the remaining fixtures in this campaign.
“For now we have to manage the fixture congestion, from what I heard, we have to play Dynamos on Wednesday and then play Yadah the next weekend,” he added.
