THEY may have last won the league title nine years ago but Dynamos are still the best team in the country according to Black Rhinos coach Saul Chaminuka.
Speaking ahead of the army side’s visit to Harare for a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League tie against Dembare on Sunday, Chaminuka had nothing but admiration for the Harare giants.
He believes the glamour boys are still the standard in Zimbabwean football and remains the team to beat.
The two sides face off with contrasting fortunes, Dembare gunning for the title, they are eight points adrift of leaders Ngezi Platinum Stars while Rhinos are three points from safety with 28 points and second from the bottom on the log.
The former Blackpool player believes the fixture is self motivating for his players.
“If there is a match that any player would love to play in, it is against Dynamos,” Chaminuka said.
“It brings a feeling that supercedes any other feeling, during my time as a player if it was a week to face Dynamos, I had a different feeling and I would be at training doing everything correctly.”
He added; “So playing Dynamos brings nothing but the best in every player in the whole of Zimbabwe, it gets the best out of those players, out of those teams. I am sure it will bring the best out of us on Sunday.”
Chaminuka pointed out the significance of this match in their quest for survival, arguing that a win against Dembare will give his team the psychological boost.
“But I see us winning and surviving relegation, if we win this one then we are safe, the boys know it,” added Chaminuka.
Both sides come into this match on the backdrop of losses, Chauya Chipembere were dumped out of the Chibuku Super Cup by Ngezi Platinum while Dynamos lost 1-0 to Manica Diamonds in a rescheduled fixture on Wednesday.
“Our dream was to play Dynamos in the cup final but that dream was not shattered forever it was brought forward as we are playing them in the league and we are ready,”he said.
