SHEASHAM captain William Stima says the construction boys’ players need to create a strong bond with each other in the last five matches of the season in order to enhance the team’s chances of avoiding relegation.

The club is battling hard to avoid the chop from the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League in their maiden season.

They currently occupy 15th position on the log standings with 31 points.

Ahead of the Gweru side’s home match against Manica Diamonds on Saturday, the veteran defender has challenged his troops to create good team spirit amongst the squad.

He feels having a good team spirit brings a positive aura that can propel the team to achieving its target.

“At this stage of the season we must have teamwork and stay close together as a family,” he told The Echo Sports.

“I have been telling the boys that we won’t get relegated. We just have to work hard, leave the rest to God, I know he is on our side and will guide us.”

Stima is an old war horse who has raced on many courses, from fighting relegation with Tsholotsho to winning the league title on multiple occasions with FC Platinum.

He has also featured at the highest level, playing in the CAF champions league for FC Platinum.

As one of the experienced players in the Lizwe Sweswe coached side, he called upon other senior players such as Roy Useni, Hillary Bakacheza and Collen Kwaramba to provide guidance in the remaining matches.

“We are at a very delicate period of the season, the experienced players in the team have seen it all, so they need to show up and give guidance to the youngsters on how we should navigate this terrain,” he added.
