A family in Senga suburb in Gweru was left counting its losses after the house they were sleeping in was gutted by fire on Friday night.

Reports suggest that five members of the family- the grandmother and four children managed to escape unhurt.

But the house and property yet to be quantified were extensively damaged in the inferno.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained but indications are that the fire may have been started by a brazier(mbaura)

It is reported the brazier was in the fowl run to provide warmth for the chicken, and is suspected to have tipped over igniting the fire.

When this news crew arrived at the scene, the Gweru City Council Fire department was busy dousing the flames.

This incident comes barely two days after at least 18 people died in a Kombi explosion along the Gwanda– Beitbridge highway.
