POLICE in the Midlands province have arrested seven suspects in connection with three separate murder cases that occured between 25-27 December in the province.

The seven are Tafadzwa Ndereki (20),Kizito Mpofu (23) of Mbizo suburb in Kwekwe, Luke Garamukana(21) of Alarm 2 Compound, Luckson Ngoni (23),Munashe Chitondo(18) also of Mbizo.

The other two are Brian Chivanga of Woodlands Park in Gweru and 25 year old John Chirefu of Iron sides in Shurugwi. The two are being accused of murdering Blessed Jakalasi(28), an omnibus conductor, by striking him with a hammer.

The incident occured on December 27.

“The two suspects are alleged to have grabbed the deceased who they found operating as a conductor along Woodlands- Town route,” ZRP Midlands spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said.

“They allegedly demanded their unspecified amount of money owed, the driver tried to intervene but to no avail. After a while, Jakalasi was found lifeless.”

The quartet of Mpofu,Garamukana,Ngoni and Chitondo are being jointly accused of murdering Clive Madhlolo (26) of Alarm 2 Compound by stabbing him with a sharp object.

The deceased’s body was discovered by a passer-by in the Kwekwe CBD. After investigations and tip offs from the public, police managed to arrest the four.

In the other incident that occured on Christmas day, Ndereki is alleged to have stabbed Jackson Kapeni(20) at Empress mine.

“He was arrested after having sought hibernation in Battlefields where his father handed him to the police,” Insp Mahoko added.
