ACTING President Kembo Mohadi today handed over aid donated by the Zimbabwean government to Mozambique.
This after, Zimbabwe’s Eastern neighbours were affected by severe floods that left a trail of destruction.
Thousands in Mozambique were displaced and left homeless and cut off from basic infrastructure.
The aid was mobilized by Zim Aid, part of the donated stuff included 300 metric tonnes of grain, medical supplies, timber, blankets, mealie meal, sugar, salt, sanitary wear as well as cash donations.
“On behalf of the people of Zimbabwe, we convey our solidarity with Mozambique, which has been severely affected by the devastating floods,” Mohadi said.
“As Southern Africans, we continue to stand together in times of need. Zimbabwe and Mozambique are more than neighbors when Mozambique calls, Zimbabwe answers.

“At this critical time, food essentials are crucial for those affected by the floods, this response aligns with the principles of SADC, showcasing regional solidarity.”
According to the National Institute for Disaster Risk Management and Reduction at least 642,122 people have been affected by floods since 7 January.
Mozambique’s Southern and Central regions have been the most affected while an estimated 125 people have died since the onset of rains in October.
