IN a shocking act of cruelty that has left the Zvishavane community shell shocked, a 38 year old woman stabbed and seriously injured her two year old son.
Mildness Mukoshomi(38) of Highlands suburb in the mining town has since appeared in court, facing attempted murder charges and remanded in custody.
It is alleged that on the morning of Tuesday 5 September, Mukoshomi took her son and locked him in the bedroom and stabbed him on the stomarch with a kitchen knife.
According to ZRP Midlands spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, a neighbor at Mukoshomi’s residence, Jeremiah Mutunhira heard the toddler crying unusually, upon which he proceeded to check what was happening.
“Mr Jeremiah Mutunhira who also stays at Mukoshori’s residence heard the baby crying unusually and rushed to check if everything was ok,” he said.
“He discovered that Mukoshori’s bedroom door was locked from inside and he force opened it only to find the baby lying in a pool of blood and his mother standing beside him.”
The matter was reported to the police and Mukoshori was arrested and taken to court where she was remanded in custody.
