A Kwekwe based self styled prophet, was on Monday arrested for causing public nuisance after he staged a fake witchcraft bust incident meant to boost his popularity.

The prophet, 19 year old Brighton Muroyi (Madzibaba Heavynisher) was taken into custody together with his accomplice Revai Kweza, 45 of Mkoba 18, Gweru.

It is alleged that Muroyi hired Kweza to act as a witchcraft trapped at the prophet’s shrine in Mbizo 3, Kwekwe.

According to ZRP Midlands provincial spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, the incident happened on Monday morning.

On the said day, Kweza was found seated inside a locked and gated house in Mbizo 3, Kwekwe, near a Johane Masowe eChishanu Apostolic Faith Sect shrine.

She was dressed in a black skin-tight outfit, a black bra, and a black headscarf.

This attracted the attention of the public resulting in a large crowd gathering to witness this odd incident.

“It was gathered that the two drummed up a story where the man, a self-styled prophet, hired the female accomplice to act as a trapped witch at the prophet’s shrine,” Insp Mahoko said.

Insp Mahoko added that the two’s sinister plan was uncovered during interrogation at Mbizo police station.

Kweza implicated Muroyi and revealed Whatsapp messages detailing the duo’s plan and payment to Kweza for the services.

“We urge members of the public to work with their hands in order to earn a living,” Inps Mahoko further said.

“We also want to urge members of the public to do thorough background checks whenever they want to engage the services of prophets.”
