A Gweru family lost cash and property worthy around US$24 000 after they were robbed by six armed robbers on Wednesday.
The incident happened in Southview suburb in the Midlands capital.
According to the police, Anthony Shanji(55) and his wife were asleep in their house together with their daughters when six intruders gained entrance into the house around 00:15hrs.
The six men were armed with a pistol, they threatened the family, tied Shanji and his family using electric cables.
“They went on to search the house and took cash US$3005, two HP and one Lenovo laptops, two 55 inch television sets a Samsung and an LG led, ten new blankets and various cellphones,” ZRP Midlands spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said.
“The loot was loaded into the family vehicle a black Toyota Rav 4 registration number AES 5227 and drove it away.”
The six suspects are currently on the run and the police are appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects.
