ZRP Shurugwi, this week received a donation of 10 brand new laptops from Miners for Economic Development (Miners4ED) Midlands chairperson,Crispen Mahara.
This is a gesture aimed at enhancing efficiency in the security sector through technology modernization.
Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution in the Midlands,
Owen Ncube made the presentation to ZRP Shurugwi acting officer in charge Inspector Dannymore Matanhuse.
Ncube commended Mahara for the donation, emphasizing that the modernization of government systems aligns with the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1).
“Laptops allow for real-time access to databases, reducing response times in emergencies and streamlining administrative tasks like report filing and data entry,” he said.
“This digitization enhances the efficiency of information handling, making police work quicker and more accurate.
“This is in line with President Mnangagwa’s vision of modernization and achieving Vision 2030.
“With these laptops, officers can manage and analyze large volumes of data more effectively, fostering improved communication and cost efficiency.”
Mahara, who was born and bred in Shurugwi said that the initiative is a way of giving back to the community.
“The police play a pivotal role in maintaining peace in our mining town, which is often associated with violence and drug abuse,
“Therefore, I found it essential to equip our police with modern tools to enable them to perform their duties efficiently,” he said.
Inspector Matanhuse expressed his gratitude for the donation, stating that computers have become indispensable in today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.
“This donation is a testament to our commitment to providing quality service and equipping our police officers with the necessary tools for effective policing in the 21st century,” he said.
“These laptops will empower our officers with access to vital digital resources and foster essential skills in technology, critical thinking, and problem-solving.”
