More than half of prospective drivers who took driving tests for the certificate of competency failed the tests in the 3rd quarter of 2023 according to the latest information released by the National Statistics Agency (ZIMSTATS).

“At national level, 61,644 candidates undertook a certificate of competency test during 3rd quarter 2023, of which less than half (43.2%) succeeded,”reads the report.

Bulawayo recorded the lowest pass rate for candidates tested for provisional drivers licenses with 46.6 percent while the rest of the provinces, proportions of those who passed was above fifty percent.

The country recorded 12564 accidents in the quarter under review with 604 fatalities while 2624 were injured during the same period.
