A Gweru based medical doctor has been arrested for using and dealing with dangerous drugs.

Farikai Manjeya (49), and three others Tafara Chigoya (28), Kudakwashe Godknows Mutata (29) and Tariro Pambwa (35) have been brought before the Gweru Magistrates’ Court for possession of dangerous drugs
(methamphetamine).

The four have been remanded in custody pending bail hearing.

Below is a statement from the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).

Police detectives received information to the effect that there was illicit drug activity at the doctors’ cottages in Gweru where the first accused person is a resident and medical doctor.

On the 9th of November 2025, detectives proceeded to the doctors’ cottages and
found the four accused persons allegedly smoking crystal meth using J-pipes and cigarette lighters, which led to their immediate arrest.

The J-pipes, the cigarette lighter and an empty sachet were seized. The accused persons were subsequently arrested.
They were remanded in custody pending bail hearing.
