POLICE in Gweru have arrested three suspects in connection with a spate of theft of car parts in the city.
The three ran out of luck on Christmas Eve when they were arrested near the Isolation medical center along Matobo road.
The suspects have been identified as Takudzwa Mutengwa(27), Leo Tanatswa Matatswa(19) and Clapperton Mangwindime(34).
ZRP Midlands province spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the arrests.
“It is confirmed that ZRP Mtapa arrested three suspects in connection with a spree of theft of car parts,” he said.
“The arrest was made near Isolation Medical Centre, along Matobo road, Gweru on 24 December 2024 at around 2300 hours.
“Circumstances are that, on 24 December 2024 at 2300 hours, ZRP Monomotapa Police received information that Takudzwa Mutengwa had bags suspected to have been stolen.”
Insp Mahoko added: “Police reacted and arrested the suspect who had already sensed danger and sought refuge at his girlfriend’s place where he hid under the bed.”
The arrest inturn, led to a further arrest of his two suspected accomplices.
Insp Mahoko said police recovered a six car batteries, a bag containing tools that were used to break motor vehicles, four sets of coil packs, an 8 gig Flash Drive, an Itel A63 cell phone and six live broiler chickens.
