A Gokwe family lost cash US$ 9 900, R 3 000, a revolver Taurus gun, loaded with 28 rounds and five cellphones to armed robbers who pounced on their premises.
ZRP Midlands spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said the incident occurred on April 07, 2024, at Masakadza Business Centre, Gokwe South at around 0100 hours.
“On the fateful night, Leonard Chari (45) who operates a grocery shop at Masakadza Business Centre, Gokwe South and resides at the shop with his family closed his shop at 2000 hours and retired to bed,” Insp Mahoko said.
“At around 0100 hours, complainant and his wife were awakened by four unknown men who were armed with axes and logs. They demanded cash and other belongings. The four then jointly and wantonly assaulted the complainant, his wife, children and the shop attendant.”
He added: “The intruders took away cash, US$9 900, R3 000, a Revolver (Taurus) gun and 5 cell phones all valued at $10 400 and R3 000 and went away unnoticed. The stolen revolver was recovered after it was discovered lying within the complainant’s yard possibly after being dropped by the criminals.”
In a related incident police are appealing for information which can lead to the recovery of a stolen silver Toyota Wish motor vehicle.
According to the police on April 7, 2024, at around 1200 hours Danisa Ncube(41)parked his vehicle, registration number AFI 2722 at his home stead in Lot 4, Zvishavane and left the car keys on the ignition.
He went to Zvishavane District Hospital,at about 1400 hours he returned from the hospital and found the vehicle missing.
