A Gweru based commercial sex worker is on the run after she allegedly gave birth to a baby before murdering the child by throwing her through the window of a hotel room.
The incident is believed to have happened around midday on Thursday.
Preliminary investigations have linked the gory incident to Theresa Augusto who was plying her trade at Midlands hotel in central Gweru.
ZRP Midlands spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said the matter came to light after a security guard doing his security checks discovered the baby lying lifeless in a pool of blood.
“A man who was on guard duties discovered a freshly dumped foetus while doing perimeter checks at Midlands hotel,” Insp Mahoko said.
“It appeared to have had been thrown down through the window from one of the Midlands Hotel rooms.”
Insp Mahoko added that the suspect was last seen complaining of abdominal pains while blood stains on sandals belonging to Augusto have also given credence to allegations that she may have committed the crime.
“Augusto was last seen complaining of abdominal pains prior to the incident and also police recovered blood stained sandles from the room she had been using,” he added.
