A love escapade ended in tragedy for a man in Shurugwi after he died from injuries sustained from a beating by his lover’s husband.
The deceased has been identified as Anyway Zhuwawo (46) of Chief Negomo in Murehwa.
What began as a blissful and romantic evening on 11 October, turned into a horror show for the two after they were busted.
Zhuwawo had taken advantage of the absence of his girlfriend, Kuitakwashe Musaigwa’s husband.
He went to her residence to put up for the night, after a couple of steamy romantic sessions, the husband unexpectedly returned.
ZRP Midlands spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said the husband identified as Moreblessing Dendere assaulted Zhuwawo with a blunt object.
“It is alleged, the now deceased Anyway Zhuwawo had put up for a night at his girlfriend Kuitakwashe Musaigwa’s place while her husband Moreblesssing Dendere was away on a visit to Mutare.
“During the night, the husband returned without communicating with the wife and found the two sleeping in the bedroom.
“Moreblessing Dendere is alleged to have used an unknown blunt object to assault Zhuwawo all over the body. Anyway Zhuwawo sustained injuries on the head and a broken ankle,” he said.
Sensing danger, a naked Zhuwawo managed to escape to his place of residence.
He then sought medical attention at Gamwa clinic on the following day.
Insp Mahoko added that Zhiwawo’s condition deteriorated and was transferred to Shurugwi district hospital.
“The following day, he was taken to Gamwa clinic for treatment, he was transferred to Shurugwi District Hospital where he passed on while admitted,” added Insp Mahoko.
A report was made to ZRP Tongogara and police are now carrying out investigations.
Dendere is still at large and police are appealing for information that may lead to his arrest.
