Shurugwi has over the years been tainted with a bad image because of violence particularly from artisanal miners who throng the mining town from all corners of the country looking for gold.
Such bad has been that portrait that most beer drinking places in the mineral rich town have been touted danger zones because occasionally they end up with incidences of blood violence from machete wielding artisanal miners.
But the year 2020 saw the birth of a classic entertainment joint known as Vital Lounge, which has not only become a force to reckon in Midlands but the country as a whole.
Vital Lounge manager Moreblessing Mukomberwanwa said the liquor section at the joint has a night club and gazebo.
“The gazebo opens from 10am and closes at 10pm while the night club section opens from 6pm to 3am,”Mukomberwanwa said.
“We offer top of the range expensive whiskeys, wines, ice cold beers and shisha. We have a VIP section which offers privacy to clients and they only have to part with US$10 and there are waitresses ready to serve.”
He said the club offered maximum security such that no incidences of violence have been recorded at Vital Lounge since its establishment four years ago.
Mukomberwanwa said Vital Lounge also boasts of a kitchen section where traditional cuisines are served as well as a butchery where all meat products are available for braai enthusiasts.
To show its appeal Vital Lounge has hosted big artists such as Alick Macheso, Sulumani Chimbetu, Freeman, Mark Ngwazi, Killer T, Jah Master, Enzo Ishal, Tocky Vibes and Baba Harare among others.
According to Mukomberwanwa today (Independence day) the joint will host Liethens Musoni, who is Sungura ace Sulumani Chimbetu ex-guitarist.
After a sabbatical in the UK, Musoni returned home in 2018 and formed his own band based in Gweru called Orliens Hoody Band.
“We decided to celebrate independence with Musoni because he has been a regular performer at Vital Lounge and when he once curtain raised for Macheso some few years back he (Musoni) left fans asking for more,”he said.
Musoni on Thursday confirmed playing at Vital and promised fans fireworks.
“I am promising my Shurugwi fans and others who will be coming out of the mining town a show they will never forget today on Independence Day,”he said.
Musoni has so far released four albums, Inguva zvayo in 2005, Mutendi (2010), Mwari Wenyasha (2014) and Moses (2020) since the formation of his band.
