CONDOLENCES for the late veteran Afro Jazz musician Bob Nyabinde who passed on this Saturday continue to pour in with many describing him as a fatherly figure.

Nyabinde sadly passed on at the age of 68 after a lengthy illness.

And fellow artists have shared their sorrow over the death of one of the country’s finest Afro Jazz artists.

“Haaa Mdara hey this is so painful… Rest In Peace Mdara,” wrote Urban grooves duo, Extra Large on their Facebook page.

Celebrated gospel couple Charles and Olivia Charamba also expressed their sadness at that demise of Nyabinde.

“Hatigari pano nokusingaperi. Rwendo rwepano mapedza baba Nyabinde. Peace to the family(We do not live on earth until eternity, you have ran your race,” the Charambas said.

Veteran guitarist Master Pablo Nakappa also sent his condolences, describing the Headmaster as Nyabinde was popularly known, as a loving and caring father.

“Music brought us together, music kept us together,” Nakappa posted, accompanying the post with a picture of himself and Nyabinde.

“Thank you sir Bob Nyabinde for all the good times we shared. Our musical headmaster. So much Love ,that pic there shows the love you had for me . You called me and gifted me with that lovely guitar . Thank you sir. It’s just hard to say good bye. Fare thee well Baba,” he added.

Meanwhile, Nyabinde’s family has tentatively set Tuesday as the day of his burial in Kwekwe. According to the message shared by the family, there will be a funeral service at Number 814 Old Canaan, Highfields in Harare from 6pm-8pm on December 24.

Another funeral service will be held at the Nyaradzo parlour in Harare before the body departs for Kwekwe on Christmas day. A service will also be held at his Mbizo home, with burial set for Tuesday.

A teacher by profession, Nyabinde rose to prominence together with his band the Savanna drive band at the turn of the millennium with the album Pane Nyaya which carried hits such as Chabuda Hapana, Pane Nyaya, Samanyika and Zvibingadzo.

Other albums to his name include Ndiratidze mumwe chete,Teerera and Anzwa Hama.
